Find my solicitorHigh Court civil claims are heard at the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand, and business, property and insolvency work goes to the Rolls Building close by. Most everyday cases never get near either. They go to the Central Family Court at High Holborn, the Central London County Court or one of the county court hearing centres out in the boroughs. A criminal case starts at the local magistrates' court and, if it goes further, moves to one of several Crown Courts. The Old Bailey is simply the best known.

Some do, for some kinds of claim. It depends on the firm and on the strength of your case, so ask before you instruct anyone. Where a firm has told us it offers no win no fee, we show it when we match you.
Not always. Much of this work can be done by phone, email and video. A local firm helps if you want to meet in person or your case is likely to go to a court nearby.
